Find financing for this deal
Describe the car and the loan in five answers. Lenditia sends your request to auto lenders, car dealers and loan brokers, who may contact you with financing options. Nothing is agreed until you sign a contract with one of them.
- 1 The car, the amount, your credit and ZIP code.
- 2 Your name, phone, email and consent to be contacted.
- 3 An auto lender, car dealer or loan broker may call, text or email you. Compare any offer by APR and total cost before you sign.
Sending a request costs you nothing. Lenditia is not a lender and is paid by the auto lenders, car dealers and loan brokers who receive requests; they set their own rates and terms. How we make money.
How the total is built
The calculator adds the dealer's doc fee and any add-ons to the price and charges sales tax on that sum, minus the trade-in value if your state allows the credit. It then adds title and registration fees. That is the out-the-door price. From it come your trade-in equity (value minus what you still owe), any rebate and your cash down payment; what remains is financed.
For example, a $30,000 car with a $500 doc fee, $1,000 of add-ons, 6.25% tax, $400 of registration and an $8,000 trade-in that still has $10,000 owed comes to $33,368.75 out the door. After a $1,000 rebate and $2,000 down, the amount financed is $32,368.75: more than the car's price, because $2,000 of negative equity rode along.
Rules differ by state
Some states tax the full price even with a trade-in, cap the doc fee, or tax add-ons differently. Each state page lists the sales tax rule and any doc fee limit, and the guide to the out-the-door price explains each line on a buyer's order.
